People often compare life to a road - as if it is a simple matter of choosing a path or destination and then heading in that direction. But it is really more like a river. We try to navigate our chosen path while being swept along by something much greater than ourselves.
We plan for the changing conditions that we see in the distance. We then react to the circumstances that we didn't see coming. We use our wit, guile, and anything else at our disposal to keep things on course. We must remember that we are not in this river alone. We have others to help us. We need to work together to avoid a collision.
